  • What is a warrant?

    A warrant gives its owner the right to purchase a specific amount of common stock, at a specific price, until a specified date in the future. Warrants are exercisable.

    Warrant subscriptions are generally exercisable at a fixed subscription rate and purchase price and usually have a life span of 10 to 20 years.

    The price per share specified in the warrant is called the exercise price. The exercise price is usually slightly higher than the current market price of the security at the time the warrant is issued.
